Reflection on Observational Tasks
The observational tasks were an important part of my developmental practicum. These tasks helped me understand the real classroom environment before taking full responsibility for teaching. Through observation, I was able to connect theoretical knowledge from college with practical classroom practices.
During the observational tasks, I carefully observed my co-operative teacher’s teaching style, classroom management techniques, and interaction with students. I learned how lessons are introduced, developed, and concluded effectively. Observing student behavior helped me understand different learning needs, attention levels, and classroom discipline strategies.
I also observed the use of teaching aids and resources such as the blackboard, charts, textbooks, and questioning techniques. These observations helped me realize the importance of clear instructions, time management, and student engagement in the teaching-learning process.
Another important learning outcome was understanding the classroom environment. I observed seating arrangements, teacher movement, and student participation. This helped me learn how a positive and organized environment supports effective learning.
Overall, the observational tasks were very beneficial for my professional development. They increased my confidence and prepared me for independent teaching. Through observation and reflection, I learned valuable teaching skills that will guide me in my future role as a professional teacher.
