BASIC INFORMATION

LEARNING OUTCOMES (SLOs)

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and name body parts in English.

  2. Use simple sentences to talk about body parts.

  3. Draw and label body parts in a diagram.


MATERIALS

  • Flashcards or pictures of body parts (head, arms, hands, legs, feet, eyes, ears, nose, mouth).

  • Whiteboard and markers or a chalkboard and chalk.

  • A worksheet with a simple drawing of a body to label.


ACTIVITIES

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

  • Show flashcards with pictures of different body parts (e.g., hand, eye, foot).

  • Name each body part out loud. For example: "This is a hand. This is a foot."

  • Ask the students to repeat after you.

  • Ask: “Can you touch your head? Where are your ears?” Encourage students to touch or point to the body parts.

2. Body Parts Vocabulary (8 minutes)

  • On the whiteboard, draw a simple figure of a person (stick figure or outline).

  • Label the body parts: Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Mouth, Arms, Hands, Legs, Feet.

  • Point to each part and say the name. For example: "This is your head. These are your eyes."

  • Have the students repeat after you and touch the body parts on themselves as you go along.

3. Interactive Activity (7 minutes)

  • Ask the students to stand up.

  • Give commands like, "Touch your head," "Raise your hands," "Point to your eyes," and have students follow the instructions.

  • Encourage them to say the body part out loud as they touch it. Example: "I touch my head!"

4. Worksheet Activity (7 minutes)

  • Give each student a worksheet with a simple stick figure or outline of a person.

  • Ask students to label the body parts (Head, Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Arms, Hands, Legs, Feet).

  • Walk around and help students as they label each body part.

  • Optional: Ask students to draw a smile on the face and color the picture.

5. Conclusion (3 minutes)

  • Review the body parts again with the flashcards.

  • Ask students to say the names of different body parts.

  • Praise the students for their efforts and participation.


ASSESSMENT

  • Observe the students as they perform the interactive activity. Are they able to touch and say the body parts correctly?

  • Check the worksheet to see if the students can label the body parts correctly.
